Part Number:VSP5610

Hi,

We are using VSP5610 AFE to capture analog input from function generator i.e. Sine wave, Ramp etc.

We are using 1 MHz sampling clock and applying 1 KHz of sine wave with 1 Vpp and 2 V offset at the analog input pin of the VSP5610.

At the output digital side we are getting sine wave with only half cycle where as half cycle gets clipped. We are using SH mode.

How to recover full sine wave at the digital side ?

Part Number:ADS1274EVM-PDK

The ADS1274EVM evaluation board software has been installed in WIN10, WIN7, WINXP systems, but the driver can not be automatically installed successfully, so I would like to ask TI's great gods, how to solve this problem? Is it necessary to install the corresponding driver plugin to install the evaluation software, where can I download the plugin?

TSW1400EVM: Verification of the maximum capture time of TSW1400EVM

Part Number:TSW1400EVM

Hi,

I am trying to capture raw data using AWR1243EVM+mmWave DevePack+TSW1400EVM.

And there is an issue I want to verify.

In page 23 of RadarStudio_User's_Guide, it mentions that TSW1400 captures frames only for 10 seconds. However, I found a thread (IWR1642BOOST: RadarStudio: My TSW1400 can not capture anything, when i program frame duration with a relatively long vualue) on TI E2E mentioned that the capture time can be extended to 120 seconds if adding 'Capture Timeout in Sec=120' at the bottom of the INI file.

I have tried this method but the result shows that the capture time is still limited to 10 seconds. Thus, I am confused with the maximum capture time of TSW1400EVM. Hope someone can help me solve the problem.

Thank you in advance.

Hi

We are using a TLA2024  ADC for which there is no linux driver available.

we have observed the both ADS1015 and TLA2024 are similar to each other. And the ads1015 driver is available.

is the ads1015 driven compatible with  tla2024 ?can we use it ?

ADS8584S: Conversion and part speed

Part Number:ADS8584S

I am using the ADS8584S in a high speed analog acquisition system.

The ADS8584S is set up with CONSTA and CONSTB tied together, CS and RD tied together, 5V power, parallel data mode and +5 and -5 input scale.

The ADS8584S works good and all channels are working.  I do have one concerning problem.  I am not able to get a data though put faster than 37KHz.  If I speed up faster the data from the channels gets shifted over so CH1 is 0 CH2 gets CH1 data and CH4 is lost.  I need to collect data at 20KHz and need some averaging behind the data as well so the ADS8584S was attractive with over a 300KHz bandwidth.

I have delays in clock cycles to ensure correct timing and have them set to the minimums that allow proper operation.

I would like to discuss why the throughput of the ADS8584S is so low.

ADS1298: Benchmarking sensetivity

Part Number:ADS1298

Hi,

I am using ADS1298 in my product. I can calculate a sensitivity value based on the information in the datasheet. However, I would like to measure/benchmark this figure. Do you have a standard method for doing this? how would you go about measuring accuracy of any ADC. Considering these chips can measure down to few uV it is not very straight forward to plug in a signal gen to the inputs.

Would high ratios of voltage divider help to generate a low noise low voltage signal in uV range to feed into the ADC?

Wouldn't Johnson noise stop one from using high value resister in this case?

ADS131A04: Need advice regarding ADC and evaluation board

Part Number:ADS131A04

Hello,

I have to do mechanical experiment and capture 4 analogue signals.

I plan to buy evaluation board ADS131A04EVL and connect it to PC to capture digitized signals.

Also I plan to use external processor via SPI and capture same signals via that.

I need to understand if I may do what I want using this evaluation board and later that ADC.

The signal at ADC Channel 0 will be the differential output from tenzo sensor with range from 1mV to 20mV, considering tenzo powers from about 10V DC.

The other ADC Channels 1,2,3 will be the outputs from accelerometer ADXL-337 of X,Y and Z axis.

These outputs of the accelerometer are NOT differential and have a range from 0.9V (at -3G) up to 2.7V (at +3G) when accelerometer is powered from 3.6V DC.

So,I want to know:

1. If I may connect evaluation board to PC and capture all 4 analogue signals for my later calculations at 1000 SPS.

2. If I may use none differential outputs from accelerometer ADXL-337 and directly to connect to ADC ADS131A04 or I will need to make outputs differential first.

3. If I may connect Atmel 328P (Arduino Nano) via SPI 8 Mhz, configure ADC via that and also collect the sampled data of all 4 channels via that SPI into microprocessor.

The sample rate I plan to use at ADC will be not higher than 1000 SPS.

Please help me to understand if I may use evaluation board and later single ADC ADS131A04 chip for what I explained above.

Thank you for your help in advance,

Alex.

The register values for the following tests. In addition, the hardware used is ADS1293EVM (SV600846-001, Rev. B). As described in the reply, RLDIN was not short-connected to RLDREF after examination. After RLDIN/RLDREF is short connected, the ripple of 50Hz still exists, and the bias problem is not solved. Want to know how to bias the input signal in unipolar power supply to avoid baseline drift.

Part Number:ADS1232

Our customer used ADS1232 in their pressure sensor since 2014. Recently, the design has been changed (circuit design of ADC have not changed too much, and the timing of data reading has not changed), but ADS1232 work intermittently now.

1.the circuit design of ADC before

2.the circuit design of ADC now

3.The waveform of 9,10 feet now(Oscilloscope 1CH is connected to CAP of ADS1232, 2CH suspended)

4.Timing of ADS1232(same as before)(Oscilloscope 1CH is connected to the SCLK of ADS1232, and 2CH is connected to the DOUT of ADS1232)

PS:

1. the VCC of ADS1232 is 4.85V

2.check the AC7 between 9,10 feet that capacitance is 110 nf

ADS1118: Does the temperature sensor measure the ambient temperature or device temperature?

Part Number:ADS1118

Hi team,

customer use ADS1118 for thermocouple measurement and use temperature integrated in device for compensation of thermocouples.

here is a question is that does is measure ambient temperature or its self temperature?

if it measure itself temperature, it will have error because the device will heats. In customer project, when the start, the IC temperature is 28℃, after it work some minutes, the temperature will up to 34℃.

could you give some information about how to use temperature sensor to compensate the thermocouple  accurately?

in the datasheet, it show that the sensor can be used for system-level temperature monitoring or cold-junction compensation for thermocouple. what's the system -level? and how to compensate without being influenced by itself?

thank you

ADS1298: SPI communication

Part Number:ADS1298

Hello,

I have been trying to connect the ADS1298 with an ODROID C1 through SPI. I have the 4 SPI channels and 2 signals for the Reset and the Start pins.

I have issues with the actual sending of the commands SDATAC and the read ID, also with sending the START but I can go arround by connecting it to one of the GPIO pins of the ODROID and driving it HIGH or LOW.

My code is bellow I hope you can help me.

I have verified steps 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 in [FAQ] ADS129x: How do I verify that my ADS129x device is still functional?; and steps 1 and 2 in [FAQ] ADS129x: I'm having trouble communicating with my ADS129x device via SPI. What debug steps I should try?. AdditinallyI know the SPI communication is working since I verified that when the MOSI and MISO channels were connected together the messages were passing correctly.

Thank you very much for your time in advance and if there is any extra info you need ask me please,

Best,

Sofia

ADS8674: EVM Data Communication Error

$

Part Number:ADS8674

Hey guys,

I am working with the ADS8678 EVM and appear to be having some issues with the communication. I have the board configured with default jumper settings and the GUI recognizes that the SDCC is connected. The problem is that I am unable to read registers from the ADC and am pretty sure there is no communication between the SDCC and ADC. When I probe SCLK, it looks like the clock frequency is actually running close to 25MHz, which is higher than the maximum 17MHz specified in the datasheet.

This was brought up before in this post: https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters/f/73/t/672309?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=ads8678 but the user seemed to have corrected his issues by using 50 Ohm termination resistors on the data lines. These appear to be present on the EVM, but I am still not able to read registers. Any ideas?

DAC80508: Output Current

$

Part Number:DAC80508

Hello,

I have a customer that wants to use the DAC80508 with a load potentially as low as 66 Ohm. When the output is at full scale 2.5V, this could result in ~38mA.

I'm confused if this is within the capabilities of the part. The front page says 20mA, the EC table says short circuit current is 30mA on page 8, and this graph shows current capability up to 40mA.

  1. Would this device be able to supply around 35mA on all eight channels when the output voltage is 2.5V and supply voltage is 3.3V?
  2. If not, do we have a 16b octal DAC that could? (I wasn't able to find anything. Maybe two quads?).
  3. If still no, what is the best work around? Would we have to put a unity gain op-amp on the DAC outputs?
    1. I'm assuming we would want the offset voltage of that op-amp to be less than 1 LSB (38uV).
    2. Two pieces of OPA4388?

Thank you!

Regards,
Ryan B.
